January 2019 was a month that most of us are glad is over. With the brutal polar vortex that ended the month to several snow storms that kept on coming it seemed that buying a home was the last thing on anyone’s mind. Despite those challenges home buyers still came out and closed on 71 homes compared to 80 in 2018! This number may change over this weekend if we have some late additions, but still a strong showing during a very tough month for both buyers, sellers and agents that were out there digging through the snow!
The current inventory levels in IL’s 2nd still show:
220 – Active
7 – Reactivated
14 – Price Improvements
19 – New
For a total of 260 available homes in the single family detached category. There are currently 197 homes under contract with some form of contingency. The tight inventory levels still exist but will start increasing as the official start of the “spring” market approaches.
